Sport at Radnor House
Participation in sports is a fundamental part of the educational experience at Radnor House Sevenoaks, embodying our core values.
At Radnor House Sevenoaks, sport is for everyone. Whether your child already loves competition or is still finding the activity that feels right, our programme is designed to build confidence, fitness and enjoyment - while teaching teamwork, respect and resilience through shared experiences.
We celebrate every individual’s sporting journey. That means broad choice, skilled coaching and a curriculum that prioritises foundations as well as performance. From learning key movement skills and reintroducing fundamentals such as gymnastics, to representing the school in weekly fixtures, pupils are supported to develop at their own pace - and to discover what they are capable of.
Our approach: Participation and Personal Development
Sport at Radnor is not only about taking part. We develop pupils as sporting people: leadership, communication, decision-making and responsibility. Alongside playing, pupils can explore pathways such as officiating/umpiring, coaching and life-saving qualifications (e.g. NPLQ), with tangible milestones like awards and certificates recognising progress and commitment.
Our Senior School Core Sports are:
- Football, hockey and netball
- Cricket and athletics
- Swimming (taught as a 6-week block once per year)
- Badminton (taught as a 6-week block)
- Cross country is delivered through House competitions.

Sixth Form Sport: Choice, Fitness and Lifelong Habits
In Sixth Form, students have one Games afternoon per week, designed to support wellbeing and build sustainable habits alongside academic study. Options include:
- Fitness suite sessions and fitness classes
- Badminton
- Football, hockey and netball
- Paddle, golf and tennis
This blend of competitive and recreational opportunities allows every student - from team players to those focused on personal fitness - to stay active in a way that works for them along with their academic studies.
“There’s a clear pathway if you want to take sport seriously - training, analysis, fixtures but it’s balanced with the idea that sport should be enjoyable. The standard is high, but the
environment is positive.”
A through-school sporting journey: Prep to Senior
Our sporting philosophy is joined up across the school: building a lifelong love of activity in Prep, then developing skill, confidence and game understanding in Senior.
In Prep, pupils experience a broad range including cross country, basketball, tennis, dance, gymnastics, football, hockey and netball/rugby, with swimming taught separately once per week and short blocks such as table tennis. As pupils progress into the Senior School, the focus expands to include tactical understanding, performance under pressure, and the values of winning and losing well - all underpinned by respect and strong relationships.

“I love the competitive side — the fixtures, the intensity, the drive to get better. What’s great is that the coaching is properly ambitious, but it’s never exclusive. You’re pushed to improve, whatever level you start at.”
Our sports ethos is deeply rooted in the school’s core values, which we expect our students to demonstrate both on and off the field. These values are integral to success in sports and life beyond school:
